Who is responsible for your information

Gerard Grogans is the data controller for the personal information described here. Contact us at gerardgrogans@gmail.com.

What we collect

• Account details: your name, email address and password (stored encrypted).
• Membership details: your subscription status, renewal date and payment history identifiers — we never see or store your card number.
• Programme activity: which weeks you have completed, your saved workbook answers and your messages to the Story Method tutor.
• Event registrations: the name, email address and "how you heard about us" answer you give on the registration form.
• Technical information: basic log and device data created when you use the site, used to keep it working and secure.

Why we use it, and our legal basis

• Contract — to give you the membership you bought: your account, your weekly episodes, your workbook answers and your certificate.
• Legal obligation — to keep payment, VAT and tax records.
• Legitimate interests — to keep the site secure, prevent fraud and answer your questions.
• Consent — for marketing email and event reminders. You can withdraw consent at any time using the unsubscribe link or by emailing us.

Where your information is held

Our hosting, database, email and AI providers may process your information outside the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area. Where they do, the transfer is covered by the UK International Data Transfer Addendum or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, so your information keeps the same protection it has at home.

Automated decisions

We do not make any decision about you by automated means and we do not profile you. The Story Method tutor answers your questions; it does not decide anything about your membership.

Children

This membership is for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has registered, email us and we will delete the account.

Who we share it with

• Paddle.com — our Merchant of Record, who processes your payment, handles billing enquiries and refunds, and receives your email address and billing country.
• Our hosting and database provider — stores your account, progress and workbook answers so the site can run.
• Our AI tutor provider — receives the messages you send the tutor in order to answer them.
• Professional advisers and authorities, where the law requires it.

We do not sell your personal information.

How long we keep it

While your membership is active, and for 7 days after cancellation, after which your account and workbook answers are permanently deleted. Payment and tax records are kept for as long as the law requires.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of your information, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its use, or ask for it in a portable format. Email gerardgrogans@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days, free of charge. You may also complain to your local data protection authority — in Ireland the Data Protection Commission, in the UK the Information Commissioner's Office.

Members can do two of these instantly: on the Your account page you can download everything we hold about you as a file, and permanently delete your account and all of your data with one button.

Cookies

We use only the cookies and local storage needed to keep you signed in, remember your workbook answers on your device, and run the checkout. There is no advertising or tracking — see our Cookie Notice for the full list.

Changes

We will post any changes to this notice on this page with a new "last updated" date.
